it looks quite good doesn't it? i thought so. i was very proud of myself for making a pretty good looking pecan pie. i mean, look at it! isn't it just gorgeous?
sadly, it fooled me. on cutting it open...standing next to several people to whom i had very smugly paraded the pie in front of minutes earlier....we discovered that the entire contents remained uncooked. nice.
back to the oven. out it came again. i was less smug this time around, allowing myself just a slightly obnoxious "well, i clearly took it out a tad too soon....hope you're ready for this!".
nope, still raw inside, and now just a bit overcooked on the outside. replacing the pecans nicely on the top and trying to feign total nonchalance i put the pie back into the oven again.

attempt three. the pie was now bordering on burnt on the outside, but i was quietly (thank god) confident that it would be fully cooked inside, and worth the wait. with a flourish of the serving slice, i cut into the pie and yes, it was TOTALLY LIQUID inside.

au revoir pecan pie. i never wanted to eat you anyway. pffft.
