deborah turbeville

deborah turbeville, photographer deborah turbeville photographs are stunning. a frequent photographer for vogue in the 70s and 80s, once described as the "anti-helmut newton", turbeville's latest project is a book containing photographs of her own house, in san miguel mexico, that she has had for almost 30 years “Casa No Name” (Rizzoli; $60). penelope green of the nyt describes it as "a pictorial memoir of the house she has had in San Miguel, Mexico, since 1985. Shrouded in sepia tints and shot with her signature fuzzy lens, the images offer the Goth weirdness of painted Catholic statuary; the actress Sonia Braga dancing like a dervish in an age-pocked Mexican courtyard; and iron beds hung with tattered fabrics, lighted by bleary candelabra." i love mexico and also turbeville's photography, so this is a must-have book for me.
