I am home alone this week, so my excitement about cooking has waned significantly. No fun cooking for just me. I get more enjoyment out of preparing a meal for someone else. Therefore, I am busy reading cookbooks and the like...and feeling a bit guilty. I am sitting 3 feet from my easel which has only just come out of storage after 6 months. It's been that long since I put pencil to paper. I am determined not to let it become a "piece of furniture", though it does look rather good just standing there doing nothing. Tomorrow I will start.
This evening wasn't totally unconstructive, I baked a brownie cake. I think I put in too much chocolate sauce syrup though as it was super soft in the middle -a bit like a chocolate molten cake. Not that it matters except I wanted to cut it up neatly and give to friends. As you can see from the photos, only 3 or 4 pieces remained "neat" -about 1/4 fell apart and I had to eat it (the things I do so as not to waste food, I tell you). The rest was salvageable enough to be put into boxes and given as little gifts. Next time, less syrup.
