Chinese "candy"

Another goody from D -and maybe, just maybe the best bit in the box- was the packet of chinese plums she sent. Funnily enough, she had meant to get me dried dates for my soup, but instead sent these -and I am so happy she did! They are plums that have been preserved and are eaten as a kind of candy. We call them "canah". I can't write chinese and you can't see my sign language, so phonetic will have to do I'm afraid. They look like, well, pooh. As long as they taste delicious, they can look like whatever they like for all I care. And gosh are they delicious. Sweet and slightly salty at the same time. Eating the first one brought back memories of when I was growing up -and getting a very upset tummy from eating too many canah in one go. Lovely.
