it's a long weekend in Vail for MLK Day. i had forgotten about the extra day until last night. much happiness descended upon our condo upon the discovery.

the locals say the economy and lack of snow has affected them this year - and it's noticeable in that there are not nearly as many visitors this weekend as usual. still no snow. instead it's a really beautiful day today, lots of sunshine and in the high 50s. yikes. i can imagine one would be more than a bit p'd off if you had a ski pass for the weekend.

i did some shopping and ventured into a couple of great stores.

one is Kemo Sabe. inside it's crammed with leather ware and cowboy boots. some are imported (Lucchese), some are locally made. i found what i thought would make a great collar for Flor only to realise it's a band for one's cowboy hat. CITY PERSON anyone???

i picked up some humungous fur gloves for G

my favourite store is Gorsuch. outside, they put fur throws on their benches to make them more comfy for their customers. inside, it's three floors of gorgeous clothing for men and women.

then i sat in the sunshine and watched the slopes

now i am going to make us some lunch.
